Munich (September, 24, 2018) — Audi AG, one of the leading premium car makers and Valtech GmbH, a globally operating service provider in the area of digital transformation, have, today, announced a joint venture to develop digital solutions for numerous aspects of the connected car.

The joint venture HQ will be located in Munich. Valtech Mobility GmbH is focused on optimizing vehicle technologies, software architecture and digital experience design. The company’s objective is the development of connectivity solutions and connected services for the car of the future. Audi is further expanding its leading role as an innovative car maker.

“The digital transformation and new mobility concepts open excellent opportunities for car makers to enrich the driving experience and jockey the business into an even better position in an increasingly connected world”, says Sebastian Lombardo, Chairman and CEO of Valtech. “We’re very happy having Audi as a partner who is driving the digital transformation in the car industry with a passion to excite their customers with new technologies and driving experiences.”

“Digitalization and connectivity play a decisive role for the mobility of the future”, says Dr. Thomas M. Müller, Head of Electronics and Electrical Engineering and CarIT at Audi. “Founding the joint venture expands our partner network in the long run and strengthens our competences in agile software development.”

The joint venture will develop innovative digital solutions, that can be operated intuitively – and with their well thought-out design, offer clear added value for user interaction and vehicle integration. Big data, electric mobility, autonomous driving and connected platforms will be the core issues for which new products, services and business models will be developed.

Shareowners of Valtech Mobility GmbH are Valtech GmbH and Audi Electronics Venture, a subsidiary of AUDI AG. Andreas Peters, who used to be responsible for the Automotive division at Valtech GmbH, and Peter Ivanov, formerly in an executive capacity in the area of Vehicle IT at AUDI AG, will be the Managing Directors.

Both will have the support of an Advisory Board chaired by Olivier Padiou, Group COO of Valtech and Chairman of Valtech Mobility GmbH.

“Design and realization come from one source – ranging from user interaction to vehicle integration”, says Peters. “These are crucial conditions enabling us to offer our customers a unique and unforgettable driving experience.”

“Due to increasing e-mobility and advances in the area of autonomous driving, connectivity will become a key component in the vehicle”, explains Ivanov. “Thus, the value adding chains are shifting within the automotive industry which is leading to new integrative models of collaboration between IT service providers and manufacturers.”

Already since 2009, the AUDI AG and Valtech GmbH have been collaborating in the area of vehicle connectivity. The joint venture is going to intensify this successful partnership over the next few years. In this framework, further services and digital business models in the area of mobility will be created.

In the future, approx. 200 employees will be working at the headquarters of Valtech Mobility GmbH in Munich and other locations in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Dresden, Ingolstadt and Braunschweig.
